📘 BISU Calape AIMS Item Banks

Academic Instructional and Measurement System

The BISU Calape AIMS Item Banks—Academic Instructional and Measurement System—is a strategic initiative of Bohol Island State University – Calape Campus aimed at strengthening the academic ecosystem through a structured, technology-driven approach to instructional resource development and student assessment.

AIMS is a centralized digital repository that houses a wide range of instructional materials (IMs) and assessment items across all academic programs and disciplines. Designed to support faculty members, academic program chairs, and institutional administrators, AIMS serves as both a teaching companion and an evaluation support system. It empowers educators to design, align, and deliver quality instruction and assessments that are coherent, measurable, and anchored in the principles of Outcome-Based Education (OBE).

This system is developed to fulfill three key academic functions:

  1. Instructional Resource Repository
AIMS provides an organized and searchable archive of instructional materials, including lecture notes, learning activity sheets, multimedia content, teaching guides, and supplementary readings. These materials are curated and categorized by subject, course code, and learning outcomes, helping ensure consistency in instruction and enabling faculty collaboration across departments.
  2. Assessment Item Bank
The system features a bank of validated test items aligned with course outcomes, instructional objectives, and CHED/DepEd standards. These items are classified by difficulty level, cognitive domain (based on Bloom’s Taxonomy), and item format (e.g., multiple choice, identification, essay, performance-based). Faculty members can efficiently retrieve, assemble, and customize assessment tools for diagnostic, formative, or summative evaluation purposes.
  3. Quality Assurance and Academic Integrity
By standardizing both instructional content and assessment practices, AIMS enhances the reliability, fairness, and validity of academic evaluations. It supports program accreditation, internal quality assurance, and data-driven instruction by promoting the use of performance metrics and evidence-based assessment design.

Through AIMS, BISU Calape envisions a future-ready academic environment where instruction and assessment are streamlined, outcomes are measured meaningfully, and knowledge resources are accessible, adaptable, and aligned to the needs of 21st-century learners.

This system not only enhances teaching productivity but also fosters a collaborative, sustainable, and innovative academic culture, supporting BISU’s commitment to transformative education and academic excellence.
